T0 be or not to be...

Careers. One of the most stressful things in life that decide your future.

I've had many questions about my future but one thing for sure that's been raising my concerns for it is definitely what I'm going to become.

Yes, I have plenty of time to decide what I want to do but the subjects I pick for my A-levels link with my career choice and I know I am still doing my GCSE's but most of my friends and classmates have a vision and rough idea of their career choice.

It can be pressuring when you have no idea what you are going to do, and when people talk about what they are going to be, it makes you wonder why you haven't decided yet.

Well, for starters, there are so many amazing jobs out there in the world and some I might have not even come across yet. Just in a field alone, there are so many categories you could work in, for example in law there is criminal law or social law and in medicine there is dentistry or the surgery sector where there are more categories depending on what you specialise in.

Of course there are tons of other jobs to do too, but why is it so hard to pick one for yourself?

It's even worse when the question of what you want to be is bought up in class or by a guest, friend or family member especially when you don't have any particular interest in any field of work.

So what do you do?

Set yourself a goal.

Yes, I know, pretty vague but I mean set yourself a goal of something that you want to achieve that might take a while but you are willing to work towards due to your passion. Like writing a book, getting decent grades for your GCSE's or A-Levels or to learn something new.

Setting yourself a goal could help you try out things you didn't know you had potential in and will give you a sense of positivity and happiness when you work towards it and feel productive and will give you great self-satisfaction when you finally achieve your goal after lots of effort has been put into it (over a period of time).

Maybe listen to career talks, and also talk to people, ask them about their career and what choices they had to make before finalising what they wanted to be. If you are still finding it hard to set your mind on something then don't worry, focus on living in the moment - just like me, because frankly, I don't know what I want to be yet either. Even if I liked something and wanted to do it and be it, one question would pop up in my mind "To be or not to be?"...

Take it slow, live in the moment.
