Hellooo Humans!!
I am sure you have heard about the strikes going on in the UK due to the economical crisis, well one of the controversial professions going on strike from the 1st of February are the teachers!
I think that teachers do deserve a better pay since they have to work for their designated school hours then have to work outside of school as being a teacher does not just require teaching skills but also planning ahead and organising as well as monitoring from 30 to 180 students' progress. With all of this taken into consideration, some teachers still have a low pay compared to what some odd jobs offer, due to inflation and the cut of pay.
However, I think it is within reason that the teachers strike for a higher pay wage.
Some argue that teachers going on strike is rather selfish of them because they have cannot come to work when on strike and will not get paid but this would cause schools to be short staffed which would result in students missing out on lesson time. They argue it is important that students learn the necessary curriculum and fill gaps in their learning especially since they pandemic took a great toll on their learning and understanding.
Though, something to consider is the fact that people are in need of money to stay financially healthy in order to survive, especially professions like teaching (nursing, junior doctors, ambulance workers, fire fighters and royal mail workers with such low pay.
Another similar topic I wanted to talk about is tutoring and how some view that knowledge should not be used to make cash as everyone has a right to free education.
Well, I agree, everyone does have a right to free education, but that is provided by the government, tutoring is merely a way to educate yourself further or help yourself grasp a topic easier.
In fact, teachers also have to get paid to work and educate, the only difference is, the government pays for the teachers and not the parents. Although, the school could still ask for money for school dinners, to donations, to charity, to school trips. And of course, this is all within reason as well.
Anyway, using the one thing you know and the only passion of yours to create a job out of it to make a living is not a criminal offence nor is it shameful, especially when no one is forcing or blackmailing people into joining a tutor but it is of the parent/carer/student's own interest to learn ahead.
Unfortunately, money is a concept created by humanity and in this world everything has a price but on it, from houses, to cars, to clothes, to food and in some places to even use the toilet, therefore a decent pay for low paid professions and a decent way to make a living is definitely within reason!
Another thing I wanted to address was how technology is advancing and the world is changing but why is the school system the same, with tests and exams and making notes from the board and long lectures from the morning to afternoon, is it not time for a change?
Have you ever thought about how some systems whether it be the school system or justice system have stayed the same regardless of how much things have changed around us with the new generation coming into action and society's perceptions as well as the new normals, I think it is time for a change in approaching the world, what about you?
That's a lot for today but I guess I felt very passionate about this issue (also I wrote my blog yesterday and lost all of, so I had to rewrite from scratch so this was also very painstaking to write again XD).
